When it comes to motorcycles, there are several different types. There are street bikes, cruisers, sports bikes, and touring motorcycles. There is also a popular bike that is considered to be an off-road motorcycle and more commonly referred to as dirt bikes. These motorcycles are carefully designed to perform specific functions. The following bullet points are typically true for off road bikes compared with standard street bikes.
Off-road bikes are light weight with a small engine. They enable a long suspension travel as well as high ground clearance. Dirt bikes are simple and rugged in construction, requiring little to no body work or fairing. They usually consist of large wheels with knobby tires which are clamped to the rim using rim-locks.Because of their sports like features, off road motorcycles are often customized for a variety of off road motorcycle sports. Most bikers prefer to use honda motorcycle parts when customizing.
Motocross: This is simply racing while taking jumps in competition with other dirt bikers. Rally raid or “Rallies”: This is simply long distance racing, usually located through deserts and terrain. Trials: This is an extremely specialized sport that focuses on balancing skills and precision as opposed to speed. Track racing: This is high speed oval racing that involves no brakes, no suspension, two gears at most, and a methanol fueled engine. Note: These machines are not street legal. When it comes to motorcycles, there are so many uses. And off-road bikes are the best when it comes to competitive biking sports. If you don’t have one already, get yourself a dirt bike and take yourself for a fast ride around your backyard.

Dirt bikes are not legal on the street. They have to have turn signals, brake light, headlight, horn etc to be legal

No. You have your terms somewhat crossed up. There are street legal motorcycles that can go off road called by several names. A “dirt bike” is not legal for road use. An example is the KLR250 & 650. there are many more. Just be sure if you plan to register it in California that it is a California approved model. You’ve been warned!
No, dirt bikes are not road legal. Some dirtbikes have headlights. but that does not make them road legal. They don’t meet lighting requirements, Exhaust, and they don’t have DOT approved tires. Operating any vehicle on the road also requires insurance. Which you can’t get on a dirtbike. Dual sport bikes are made to be road legal. But they cost quite a bit. Your cheapest option for going to school would be a moped.
The term “Dirt bike” means, Only off-road.
If you want one to use on both dirt & street, buy a Enduro/Dual purpose bike. Example: Kawasaki KLR/250cc or KRL 650cc.
They are for taller riders but great bikes. BMW also makes one that is a great bike, but cost alot more.
NO dirt bikes are not legal…however the Enduro models that have the street type tires on them are.
they have turn signals and brake lights and can be registered and legal to ride on the streets,
Much Better Than Anticipated!,
After reading the previous reviews, I must admit I was scepticle to say the least. As most people already stated a MANUAL would have made things go a little quicker, but with using the Amazon ad as a guide it came together w/o a hitch, took about an hour and did it right on my kitchen floor ( w/o damaging carrier or tile floor, wife says TY
)It dosent look or feel cheap, although I would reccomend using 2 people to load and un-load. Looks great easy to set up and easy to use, and for the price a great bargain for those on a budget. If like me getting a new dirtbike for Christmas, and don’t have a ton of money for all the extras, then this is the PERFECT alternative.

|Carrier,
This is a great deal. The steel is completely “bomber” and the assembly is straightforward (just return to Amazon and look at the pictures). It would be nice if the assembly instructions were included, and you would think that instructions for use would be mandatory for a unit sold for use on federal highways, but other than that, I am sure that I got the best unit for the best price anywhere. It’s slightly wider than the Jeep Liberty, so I have to remind myself that at gas stations…but that’s my issue. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to assemble. Sweet, sweet deal. The pin securing the ramp to the tail is attached with a cotter pin that doesn’t fit, so I’m going to get a new one before going anywhere. Still this doesn’t feel like a Chinese unit of lowest bidder quality.
