Motorcycle Tyre Changer Machines
?
As a business, it is far beneficial to use an automatic tyre changing machine, a good reason for this is, it is easier, it saves time, less chance of marking the wheel, increased chance of marking the wheel is during the clamping stage of the motorcycle wheel.
The jaws should have a plastic cover on them so not to mark the alloy, also its a good idea to use the machine at full pressure for the jaws to clamp tightly, this will stop the jaws sliding when the turn-table is going around removing the motorcycle tyre.
You can buy tyre changing machines solely designed for motorcycle wheels fitment only, the draw back with this is the machine has only one use.
Accessories like jaw adapters can be fitted to a car tyre changer, this leaves the option open for you the owner to work with car and light commercial vehicles if needed.
Some machines are classed as semi-automatic and fully automatic.
Whats the differences ?
The semi-automatic tyre changer, when the arm of the machine swivels or pivots into place by hand, it is then locked into position with a lever, the lever travels approximately quarter of a turn and a cam jams it in place.
The fully automatic tyre changer , the arm is controlled by compressed air operated by a foot pedal, then a button controls the decent of the tool head to the wheel then pressed hard in to lock the tool into place on the arm.
Motopsychos.co.uk recommend the semi-automatic tyre changing machine .
Why?
If it is speed you want, the semi-automatic machine arm is pulled into place faster .
Speed matters when there are large quantities of tyres to change at a commercial garage.
There are less pneumatic parts to go wrong such as control valves and moving parts.
It costs a lot less than a fully automatic.
Once the arms are locked into place, both machines do the exact job as each other in the way the tyre is removed.
Pirelli Tyres company at World Super Bikes use the semi-automatic tyre changer machines, take a look at this link to see pictures of the Pirelli Motorcycle Tyre Fitters in action at World Super Bikes .

Yes they are fun & your looking at $ 18,000 & they are made by CanAm

nbr600 has the price about right. They aren’t cheap. I have a friend who bought one, as he had to give up two wheeled cycling for health reasons. It allowed him the freedom of riding in the open air, without the potential complications riding a motorcycle may have caused him. I have been on a demo ride myself. They are quite an interesting machine, but it is NOT a motorcycle. You do not lean in to curves/turns the way you do on a motorcycle. You turn the ‘bike’. It is much like a snowmobile on wheels. As long as you realize going in you’ll enjoy it. If you’re looking for three wheel stability but turning capability similar to a motorcycle, think Piaggio MP3. I would definitely recommend going on a demo ride before making the leap in to buying.
