good luck with that i don't think your going to get a street legal dirt bike (enduro) for under $ 500 even street legal scooters (electric) are like 2 grand. you gotta save some money and get something used I'm 14 and i just got a yamaha 200 for $ 850 its an 84 so its fairly old you can put it on the road but you would have to put a good $ 400 into it glad i did with gas prices of today. if he is 12 and never ridden before an 80 with a clutch would be good for him as long as its not a YZ nothing against them but they will climb trees too much power for him get him a 4 stroke.they also have 1970's era yamaha mini enduro with an 80cc in it and you can put it on the road! check out e-bay and www.kijiji.com or www.kijiji.ca
