I think it was about 2003 when they started calling them 85 instead of 80. They are almost the same bike. The 80 had 83cc and the 85 is like 84.9cc. Why would you want an older outdated 80 instead of the newer 85?
They are still available although the 80cc 2 stroke is an older bike. All newer versions or similar are 85cc bikes and the 80cc 2 stroke is no longer manufactured and would be considered outdated. The kx85 is the best option for a beginner if they insist on getting a 2 stroke as it has a power valve which means power delivery is a bit more even. The yz and cr have a lot more top end so are not as easy to ride.

Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and I think Kawasaki all made 80 to 85 cc 2 stroke motocross bikes for several years. Lots of good bikes, which real suspension and power for their size. There should be lots around used, but you will have to check their websites for current models.
